UNICEF's Pacific Container Lines transporting goods has donated 900 sets of preschool kits and toys to children in four central provinces.

On April 23, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) donated 900 sets of preschool kits and toys to be used in emergencies, to children in four central provinces: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien. Hue and Quang Nam are transported by Pacific Container Shipping Joint Stock Company (PCL).

According to a UNICEF representative, central Vietnam was severely affected by the storm and floods in a row at the end of 2020. Many facilities, schools and study materials were destroyed due to strong winds and flood waters. It is estimated that about 153,000 students have had school breaks.

To meet the need for education, UNICEF, with the support of the National Committee of UNICEF, the Government of New Zealand and Shopee purchased 900 preschool kits and toys used in emergencies, with priority to for the students and schools most affected, which are primarily odd school sites.

The UNICEF representative also said that these preschool kits and toys will be distributed in the coming days, bringing practical benefits to 45,000 children. These sets of utensils and toys also contribute to continuing to promote a quality learning environment for children in areas affected by natural disasters.

At the reception, Mr. Tran Gia Khanh - Head of the Secretariat, the Command for Information and Control (Ministry of Education and Training) thanked the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the carrier Pacific Container Lines (PCL) for accompanying the Ministry of Education and Training in recent years. Hopefully in the coming time, UNICEF will continue to accompany the Ministry of Education and Training in many fields.

Immediately after receiving the preschool kits and toys used in emergencies, the representative of the Ministry of Education and Training and Pacific Container Lines (PCL) distributed these goods to the education sector in 4 localities: Quang Binh , Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam, for the education sector to divide to each school site.
